NGOs need to register with NITI Aayog for grant-in-aid

It is now mandatory for all NGOs and voluntary organisations (VOs) to register with NITI Aayog to receive grant-in-aid from ministries or departments of the central government, Parliament was informed today.

“It is mandatory now for all NGOs/voluntary organisations to sign up on NGO-DARPAN portal to obtain a system-generated unique ID before applying for grant under any scheme of central government or ministries,” Minister of State for Ministry of Planning Rao Inderjit Singh said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.

Bill to replace Medical Council of India likely in ongoing Parliament session

The government is likely to place the bill that seeks to replace the Medical Council of India (MCI) with National Medical Commission (NMC) before Parliament in the ongoing Winter Session. “The proposed National Medical Commission Bill, 2016 has been finalised by the Aayog and it is likely to be placed before Parliament for passage in the current session,” a source said.

Government rolls out Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana for entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship today announced launch of Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana to scale up an ecosystem of entrepreneurship for youngsters.

“The scheme spans over five years (2016-17 to 2020-21) with a project cost of Rs 499.94 crore and will provide entrepreneurship education and training to over 7 lakh students in 5 years through 3,050 institutes,” an official statement said.
